Diamond Z was on-site and grinding during the annual USCC Compost Conference Demo Day. Vice President/Products Pat Crawford, who ran our DZH5500TKT Horizontal Grinder during the exhibition, provided this report on how the day went:
“The Demo Day included some 50 plus pieces of equipment, including all of our direct competitors’ top horizontal models. It went extremely well considering the material we had to grind was only construction and demolition material.
“We had two demo runs. The first was 20 minutes and the second was 10 minutes. Although construction and demolition material grinds very easily, it can be very difficult to feed and is typically very challenging to most all of our competitors, due to our much more aggressive feed floor and crush roller.
“This material actually made us look very superior to the rest of the field. I’ve received some many positive comments, some from direct competitors, stating we easily out-produced the entire field, including a couple higher horsepower CAT C32 engines with our DZH5500 CAT C27 (1,050 HP). Keep in mind the DZH5500 is third largest horizontal model we manufacture.
“This machine was borrowed from our local customer Triple Oak. We were able to out-produce the field in spite of the fact we ground four 10”x10”x.75” steel tie plates in our first run, resulting in no damage to the machine. Proof once again we are the most durable competitor.
“Our contaminate detection system work flawlessly, shutting the machine down and backing up the infeed. It was quickly reset and loading with only a couple minutes of run time. Regardless of losing a bit of time we still outpaced the field, some estimated by as much as 20-25%.
“All in all it was a great day and another great USCC demo. I’ll guarantee you no one in attendance came away questioning the Diamond Z team dominance!”
